Dreamfarm Scizza Pizza Scissors
As far back as I could remember, one of the coolest things as a kid and one of the happiest moments in my life as a kid was pizza day at school. Growing up, most of the time, I didn't eat breakfast. So, when lunchtime rolled around, I was usually really hungry. Most of the time I had a lunch, sometimes I didn't have lunch. My parents meant well and I knew they loved me and wanted the best for me, but sometimes, they would forget to pack a lunch for me. Later on, sometimes there wouldn't be ingredients at home for me to prepare and pack my own lunch.
One time, I was out at lunch break, but didn't have a lunch. I was talking to an older kid at school and he didn't have a full lunch, but a snack, an apple or something. He was hungry too and wanted pizza. The nearest pizza place was kinda far and would probably require driving to reach. So this kid and I each checked our pockets and found we each had some cash. Combined, we had enough to get a pizza delivered. So, he and I marched into the school's office and asked to borrow their phone. This was so long ago, we didn't have cell phones or smartphones. There was a staff on duty there and she didn't like the idea of us ordering pizza. We told her our story and how we didn't have lunch and she relented after we pulled out our money and showed her that we had enough for the pizza plus a tip.
After 30 minutes or less, the pizza arrived. We paid for it and literally just sat on the curb at the front of the school and split a pizza. I don't remember exactly what we ordered, it was probably pepperoni or pepperoni, green peppers, and mushrooms, but the pizza was pretty darn tasty. This older kid and I weren't friends, but were on friendly terms. I ran into him later as we went to the same high school and I felt we kinda drifted apart. I don't really mind, I just hope he is doing well for himself. I always considered him intelligent and ambitious. I consider myself kinda intelligent and kinda ambitious too, but the thing I value most is kindness.
The official pizza day (for the entire class) was usually really cool and really fun. I really ever only missed pizza day once. We would get our order forms a few weeks in advance and we gave our money and the order form to our teachers. It would help nearby businesses and mostly everyone would have a good time on pizza day, or so I thought. I was lucky in that I could have money for pizza day most of the time. There was one kid in my class that would leave during pizza day to go to the bathroom or something. I would order 3 slices and a pop, sometimes a bag of chips as well. The slices weren't gigantic, so three slices wasn't a lot even for a kid. I followed this classmate. I was catching on pretty quick why this kid would leave. There was no pizza form filled out for this kid. I offered a slice from my three and a few chips. I felt stingy and only gave one slice and some chips.
Looking back and knowing what I know now, I can only feel regret. I wish I gave more and not once, but all the time. I should have given two slices, three slices, and maybe only kept some of the chips and some of the pop. I often think back to the nice Jewel song and the lyrics about kindess.
These pizza scissors are great. The main motivation for me buying them was that I didn't like using the circular cutter for cutting. The circular cutter involved putting pressure and applying the sharp edge on the surface beneath the pizza, whether it was parchment paper or the baking sheet. Mostly, it felt like I would damage the surface beneath the pizza. Another problem was sometimes a baking sheet would have a lip around the perimeter, and it would make it difficult for a round cutter to cut through to the outer edge of the crust.
These Dreamfarm Scizza pizza scissors work amazingly well for this and were able to cut from crust to crust easily and all the way through. Sometimes, with a circular cutter, I had to cut across the crust a few times to cut all the way through. I also didn't like having those foot long double handle curved blade cutters either because they seemed a bit dangerous to have around the kitchen. These pizza shears were a dream to use and really come in handy.
